Adding Value Video Series – Unique Selling Points
Why Your Unique Selling Points Shouldnât Be a Once-a-Year Thing
Letâs talk about USPsâthose magical little things that make your nursery stand out from the crowd.
Now, hereâs the pattern I see all the time: April rolls around, and suddenly everyoneâs scrambling to remember what makes their setting âspecialâ because itâs time to justify a fee increase. Sound familiar?
Listen, your Unique Selling Points (USPs) arenât just there to soften the blow when fees go up. Theyâre not some dusty trophy you wheel out once a year and hope it does the trick. Your USPs should be front and centreâall year round, every single day. Because theyâre not just a sales pitchâthey are your setting.
What Actually Is a USP?
Weâre not talking marketing fluff here. A USP is anything that sets you apart. Itâs the stuff that makes parents choose you over the setting down the road. And chances are, youâve got a lot more of them than you realise.
- Maybe youâre a family-run nurseryâa mother and daughter team who live and breathe the business.
- Maybe youâve got over 200 years of combined childcare experience across your team (yep, Iâve seen it!).
- Maybe you serve locally sourced, home-cooked meals every single day.
It doesnât have to be flashy. It just has to be real. And if youâre doing it day in, day outâit matters. The danger is, because it feels ânormalâ to you, you forget how impressive it is to the outside world.
If You Donât Say It, How Will They Know?
Hereâs the problem: parents donât always know what theyâre getting unless you tell them. And if they donât know, they canât value it. So if youâre silently working your socks off to deliver excellence, but not shouting about it? Youâre missing a trick.
Especially when it comes to raising fees. That conversation becomes a whole lot easier when you can confidently say, “Hereâs what youâre paying forâand hereâs why itâs worth every penny.”
So, What Should You Do?
- Website? Your USPs should be all over it.
- Parent tours? Talk about them.
- Social media? Shout them out.
- Welcome packs? Highlight them.
Basically, if thereâs a parent anywhere within earshotâmake sure theyâre hearing about what makes you brilliant.
Final Thought
Your nursery isnât like every other nurseryâand thatâs a good thing. So stop hiding your USPs away like theyâre something to be embarrassed about. Theyâre your secret sauce. Your sparkle. Your story.
So start telling it. Loudly. Proudly. And not just when the invoices go up.
